The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

After graduating from Penn state with a Masters in Agronomy, I spent two years in the Army working in the crop division of biological warfare. While in the Army I met Virginia DuPree who became my wife in 1958. Following my service in the Army, I attended the University of California at Berkeley where I obtained my PHD in Agricultural Economics. In 1962 I moved to Griffin, Ga. to work for the University of Georgia at the Griffin Experiment Station. Virginia and I had three children; Ina, Robert and Bruce. Virginia died in 1989 and I married Ruth McGaha in 1993. My marriage to Ruth added three adult children to the family. We now have 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. In 2004 I retired from the University of Georgia with the rank of Professor Emeritus and am continuing with some research. Before my retirement from UGA, I enjoyed serving as a Scout Master for forty years. I also enjoy growing sweet corn and participating in church and community activities of which some are: elder in my church, mission work and raising money for charities. For the past two years I have ridden a bicycle in the Minnesota Habitat 500 to raise funds for building homes.
